Obama, smack those playground bullies

It’s high time to start putting the law down on those idiots who do nothing else except bully the others into submission.

It’s not 2004 anymore.  It’s not even 9/12.  For crying out loud, it’s effing 2009!

Grow a set!  Man up!!!

You are dealing with people who have killed for far less than what they are killing for now.  These people don’t know policy or how to get things done.  All they know how to do us frighten innocent people into making them vote the way they want them to.

Power is EVERYTHING to these people.   Because being in power is like being king.  They don’t believe in following laws anymore than they believe in paying taxes or living by the same rules everyone else has to.

To them – They “earned” their wealth and gosh darn it, no one is gonna make them live or act like “common” people.

They believe their wealth – their class – their nobility – their “closeness” with the “royals of their day” – should give them the right to break any g-damned law they choose.

George Bush wasn’t a president – he was appointed – he was – quite literally – more of an emperor or a king than an elected president.

He was – indeed – “King George”.

And back in jolly old King George’s day, only the “little people” paid taxes.  Only the “little people” had to obey the laws of the land.

Obama:  Please stop letting the rich have their way, while still making everyone else relent to their wishes.

If you’re not gonna stand up for us, who will??

This weekend, my local candidate for City Council Member, called me back after I left a message asking a question about his flier/advertisement.

He stated in his conversation with me that he believed a government should be run like a business. I said, “No – No, it shouldn’t be. It should be run like a household – You pay your bills and balance your books. You spend wisely and put your savings into the bank for a future rainy day.” Suddenly, he agreed – unexpectedly to my surprise. I asked, “then what do you mean when you say ‘You should run your government like a business” – He said “You shouldn’t be trying to please your friends instead of trying please your voters”.

I think he accidentally tried to use something that is popular with voters – but actually meant the opposite of what he meant – which was actually a relief to my ears.

We agreed – Don’t try and appease your donors – Appease your voters, instead.

I’m still wondering if he truly meant what he said – or if he was simply trying to twist my arm. He’s a politician, after all. I was just happy enough that responded to my call.

Still – I’m here to say: DON’T RUN A GOVERNMENT LIKE A BUSINESS. A BUSINESS IS RUN FOR PROFIT – A GOVERNMENT IS RUN TO KEEP A CITY RUNNING. TAXES MAKE THE CITY RUN. PROFITS MAKE A BUSINESS RUN.

There is such a disconnect with reality by those who deem they are higher and mightier than thou.

The Republican party is basically made up of people who:

- Vote against their own best interests. They vote for anti-gay measures, fearing that it will somehow destroy their lives, their marriages, their children, and their future. Never mind the fact that they are still pro-divorce, pro-war, pro-hate (i.e. basically it’s the “I have the right to express and act on hate” instead choosing to act civil, rational, and humane), anti-peace (they mock protesters by calling them hippies and radicals – yet they are perfectly fine with the idea of bringing guns and weapons to places where the president will be speaking). They are anti-human rights & anti-civil rights – they want to lock up anyone yet they deem as “too different for comfort” – yet they find it offensive when you decide to COMPLAIN about their intolerance.

They have absolutely no concept of what “freedom” is – they are in fact the oppressors who claim they have the right to hate and vilify anyone they choose. AND they demand protection, apologies and amendments for everything they do.  Yes, you have the right to hate – but you don’t have the right to violently act out your hateful ways.  There’s a huge difference between feeling hate and actually expressing hate.   You can hate all you want.  I hate rightwingers.  But you don’t see me – or anyone else – pointing guns in their faces, taking their guns away (like they repeatedly claim), openly threatening them with violence, etc.  You simply DON’T DO THAT.

But the right repeatedly does it.  You read and hear about it all the time.  You have radio personality, Stephanie Miller, who recently was taunted by a nutjob driver in L.A. who literally almost forced her off the road, calling HER a “crazy b*tch*.  Why?  Because she had a sticker on her car that – jokingly – called herself a “Hollywood Liberal”.  The guy in the car didn’t know who she was.  He was simply offended by her bumper sticker and taunted her about it – while trying to force her into a serious accident.

Freedom of speech is NOT freedom to hate. Being intolerant of people who are different IS *hate*. Hating your oppressor is NOT *hate*.  It’s actually self-defense.

They have absolutely no idea what racism or facism is.

They have even gone as far as calling Hitler a lefty.  A lefty… The guy murdered Jews – and Gays – and anyone who wasn’t what he considered “classically beautiful”.

Hitler was in absolute AWE of the stereotypical blonde-haired-blue-eyed, Christian.  He was seeking a perfect race – trying to rid the world of “substandard” humans.

Sigh…and so this somehow turns him into a “lefty” – the party of people who LOVE you for being anyone you wanna be.  Because that’s your RIGHT.

But I digress…

Being *anti-white* to them is somehow racism – or “reverse racism”. Yet, making fun of blacks or gays is somehow NOT supposed to be offensive.

Being polite and considerate is called “PC” to them. Yet, if you complain about Bush or any Republican, they run behind the flag or a soldier and call you anti-American.

Seriously.

If these people were chickens, they’d elect Col. Sanders as their president.

They are ALWAYS voting against their own best interests.

I was happy to learn about a few things that came out in news:

- Obama is cracking down on over-paid CEO’s on Wall Street who received Bailout Bucks from taxpayers (of course, you know the tea party people will complain about THAT part of Obama’s policy – not about the CEO’s getting too much money – but the part about Obama doing something about them to begin with – I can almost hear them chanting it… “Let them eat cake! Let them eat cake!”)

- A bill to protect people who’ve been raped by their employers got passed (Al Franken’s baby).  Namely, Halliburton – which is protecting their babies from being sued by the women they gang-raped, locked in a storage container, and left her for dead.  Over 30-right wing Republican Senators were against the measure, saying that it was unfair to vilify Halliburton like this in public.  Nevermind the woman who was gang-raped… let’s worry about the mega-billion dollar conglomerate who is sucking our treasury funds into a black hole every singled g-damned day. It’s almost too hard to believe why a bunch of psyco-path senators want to protect Halliburton at all.  Including KBR.

On the bright side – someone is finally doing something about it. That someone is:  Senator Al Franken.

But my favorite story was this one:

The activist group – called the Yes Men – a group which makes fun of – and creates awareness of – corporate greed in this country – pretended to represent the U.S. Chamber of Commerce at a fake new conference, and announced that because they were losing so many members have decided to reverse their position on Climate Change.  (The Chamber of Commerce is *against* Climate Change legislation – because they represent Big Oil, Big Pharma, Big Agra, etc etc)

All of this was reported as a REAL story on Fox Business News Channel.  Then the real Chamber of Commerce caught wind of the story (which I’m sure has plans to sue “The Yes Men”) and interrupted Fox’s broadcast by stating that they were NOT reversing their position on Climate Change.

So why is this such a big deal?

It basically puts the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in a VERY bad position.  They are indeed losing many, many of it’s members.

Why?

Because the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is nothing more than a GIANT lobbying group for companies that only wish to screw the average Joe Workingman.

They can’t handle the idea that someone like me might benefit from making $19/hour again.  Nope.  They want to keep things the way they are: an “Employers Market” – Where they can pay you whatever f*cking low wage they want.

Hell, they’d LOVE the idea of being able to rape you, leave you for dead in a storage container, and then have a White House and rightwing administration PROTECT you from prosecution.

But, they don’t have that anymore.

Law and Order is finally cool again.

The Chamber of Commerce is finally being bumped – by their constituents:  The Consumer.

What’s basically happening is:

Obama has been meeting privately – individually – with the many executives who have been relying on the Chamber of Commerce for representation.  Obama is cutting out the middleman and going straight to the business owner.

He’s convincing them that:

- Healthcare is a VERY good way to bring jobs back to this country

- Happy employees = Happy profits and loyal customers

- Happy customers = longterm prosperity

It seems that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has been VERY baaaaad under the Bush Administration.  And it’s time to finally CLEAN HOUSE.

It’s a good day

I work as a “temp” – if that’s what you want to call it – since they seem to only call once in a blue moon to give out an assignment. A temp assignment once a year hardly qualifies as a “temp”. More like painfully unemployed.

But I digress…

I went on an assignment last week to plug some program for “No Child Left Behind”. It was for a company called “Project Success” located back east. More about that at some other time. Regardless, my job assignment was for one hour at a school 50++ miles away (102 miles roundtrip). The hourly rate: $10/hour. Seriously. The big thing was supposed to be this: I was going to work 1-hour – but get paid for 4 (-My Employer’s Name Hidden for Protection – ‘ policy – my actual employer – you get paid a minimum of 4-hours even if you only work one hour). Plus, I was going to be reimbursed for gas at the rate of $.50 per mile. Making my gross pay for this assignment $90 ($50 for gas, $40 for work).

Today, I got a direct deposit of exactly: $10.59

It turns out that I was only paid for one hour (if this were true, my pay would’ve been more like $7) — and I need to fill out a special expense report to get reimbursed for the gas.

In the same phone call with my complaint to Kelly Services, I was asked if I wanted an assignment that sounded almost too good to say NO to.

Wanna hear it?

It’s about 40+ miles away from me, starts at 5:00 a.m., lasts for a few months, will require me to work holidays, evenings, weekends, and —- drumroll please…. will pay me a WHOPPING $10 an hour.

The assignment itself ends “when it’s finished”… The work involves data entry.

I remember the days when I used to make $19/hour for doing secretarial work. Real work.

Work that utilized skills.

Data entry is another one of those jobs that requires skills. Fast, accurate typing skills.

The minimum wage rate is somewhere around $8 to $9 an hour — I think it’s $8.90 an hour.

I’m gonna get just a squeek above that rate….

I might as well be shoveling dirt for that money.

And what exactly is that going to pay for??

$10 an hour x 8 hours — $80/day. After taxes, more like $60 or $70. Times that by 4 or 5 days.

That gives me a whopping $300-$400 per week. If I’m lucky.

That’s roughly $1200 to $1600 per month.

How do you live on that?

I guess it’s better than unemployment, which roughs out to about $289/week…

Oy….

I just caught the tail end of a show on MSNBC called “Dr. Nancy”…and I still can’t believe what I heard within the small timeframe that I watched it in.

Within a 5-minute span, I heard her basically say:

- Early cancer screenings produce a lot of false positives and are unreliable
- Early screenings create more worry than help
- The treatment for cancer is worse than the diagnosis itself
- Getting screenings early only creates problems for yourself when you’re young

I can’t believe this woman calls herself a doctor – and has her own show.

I guess MSNBC isn’t happy with only one or two nut jobs (Chris Matthews and Joe Scarborough)

I’m still trying to get my head to stop spinning.

Wow.

I’m not making this stuff up. She had it all captioned and summarized in bullet points on the screen while her guests were talking.

The Republican Health Care agenda really is:

Okay, I don’t know about you – but I don’t think there’s a single person out there that would give up something as incredible as a government-run healthcare plan – like Medicare or VA care.

It”s like those who get it don”t even know that THAT is what big, baaaad and scary government healthcare is.

If you”re so against government-run healthcare, you should be absolutely willing to give up your own dependency on it, and let someone else – who NEEDS it – use it instead of you.

Get a tatoo on your arm that says “no government healthcare for me” – that way the nurses will pass you on to an expensive, unaffordable idiot-for-hire who will deny you all the care you need.  Even if your life depends on it.

Every time this fact is brought up – the fact that Medicare IS government-run-healthcare – at a town hall meeting, the sane are booed and shouted down by the insane.

Seriously.  Simply refusing to allow facts get in the way of their vitriolic demeanor.

They don”t even know what the heck they are screaming about.

They want to be taken seriously while screaming and insisting that President Obama was not born in the U.S. All one can say is, Hawaii isn”t/wasn”t a state?

I guess anyone else who was born there is suffering from the same problem, too! What on earth are we to do? Oh, wait, they say now that he was born in Kenya… back when Kenya didn”t exist as a country. It”s so sad. And, still, Obama – and the blue dogs – insist on working with the Republicans to get things done.

The Republican party… the same people who think the planet – or rather, the universe – was made in SEVEN DAYS. And that the planet is only 3,000 years old.

Republicans think that global warming, evolution, dinosaur bones are part of some giant, beyond belief hoax – on par Big Foot or Loch Ness Monster. They refuse to think on their own, speak in a reasoned manner, or even listen to opinions or facts that differ from their own beliefs. They are – in fact – CRAZY.

Okay… I keep hearing from the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity fans that “good conservatives” are having to bend over and grab their ankles, while enduring the presidency of President Obama.

OMG, you poor thing!

Having to endure the presidency of someone you don’t particularly like – who happens to be a – black – man.

Oh how sad it must be for you. Fearing you’ll be labeled a racist everytime you have to come up with another reason why you don’t like him.

Nevermind the fact that your brilliant boy Bush made fucking sure he committed at least one crime-a-day while in office.

And, I hope you’ll recall, we were all REQUIRED to politely STFU out of respect for the office of the presidency….and the fear of being put in GITMO for calling him a liar and an idiot.
